About Me:
I am an American living abroad in London while I research Responsible AI! I’m a PhD student by day and I volunteer for the LGBTQ+ community, dog walk, hike, Irish dance, run, and swim in my free time. I also love to try new coffeeshops and food markets and go to concerts! I’m a sucker for a good hot chocolate.

My pronouns are:
she/her
-
My Work:
Through my research, I’m trying to help alleviate harms like discrimination from AI systems when they make decisions about people.
-
My Typical Day:
I wake up, go for a swim or run, and then turn on a podcast or some music while I had into the lab. I’ll do some reading, coding, and/or writing and some meetings throughout the day. In the evening, I might meet friends for dinner or relax at home in the evening with a tv show.
-
What I'd do with the prize money:
With the prize money, I’d like to travel outside of London to a primary or secondary school (or more!) to conduct a workshop about computer science, AI and ethics! I’d want to focus on schools that have students from underrepresented backgrounds.
-
Education:
Villanova University, PA, USA for my BSc in Computer Science. I minored in Philosophy too!
Oxford University, UK for my 3rd year of my undergraduate degree where I was a visiting student taking Computer Science and Philosophy modules.
King’s College London, UK for my PhD in Computer Science. I’m still here!
-
Work History:
I conducted three research internships as a undergraduate student, one in Boston, MA and two in Germany. I worked on big data and health informatics in Boston, AI agent communication and coordination in Kassel, Germany, and hate speech detection on Twitter in Munster, Germany.
I worked as a Machine Learning engineer at the NGO Human Rights Information and Documentation Systems the summer before I started my PhD.
During my second year of my PhD, I undertook an internship at the Centre for Data Ethics and Innovation at the UK Government. I loved being able to learn how my technical research could be applied to actual policy!
-
Current Job:
I’m a PhD Candidate at King’s College London so I’m getting paid to do cool Responsible AI research and learn! It’s a good gig.
