Rosemary J Thomas answered on 23 Jan 2024:
AI is already helping us in many ways, such as finding information, making music, solving problems, and so on. In the future, AI might be able to do even more things, like create new inventions, explore space, and protect the environment without human intervention. AI is very powerful, but it also needs to be used carefully and responsibly, so that it can help us make the world a better place.

Carl Peter Robinson answered on 26 Jan 2024:
AI will continue to be a part of our daily work and social lives. More AI tools and systems will be developed and released that impact our lives in some way, hopefully all positive!
I have no doubt these tools will be more capable at the tasks they are designed for. But, I worry that the amount of compute (hardware), cost, and energy to run some of them might still be so vast that it causes yet more damage to the climate, and to the fairness of competition in terms of business. I see much more application of AI at the edge, meaning there will be some effective AI tools available to you in your pocket or in your home, making your day-to-day easier/safer; imagine a fully-fledged AI personal assistant that you can interact with for information about a whole host of topics and personal requirements, almost like a virtual member of the family.
One of the thoughts about the future that depresses me is the possibility of still having a small handful of mega corporations who dictate the development and direction of AI and how we [get to] use it. I hope that does not happen and governments become more savvy, quickly, with coming to terms with AI developments and the regulations necessary to make sure we all benefit.
If you’re interested in working in an AI-related field, don’t worry, I am sure there will still be many opportunities to get involved with the research and development of AI systems and tools. There will even be new types of interesting jobs that come to be, because of AI advancements and adoption.

I think the ubiquitous adoption of AI technology in all walks of life can transform our society and create new opportunities. Like how the widespread adoption of cameras has created more filmmakers, content creators, and social media influencers, AI will have a large impact on our everyday lives.
