I started to get interested when I noticed articles about machine learning in the computing and software-programming related magazines and websites I used to browse back in the late 2000s and early 2010s. I also remember a few documentaries, on the BBC, I think. One of these was about robotics and described the control system of the robot and how it helped the robot learn. I thought that was pretty cool, that a robot could learn about its environment from scratch, not knowing anything beforehand and that AI systems were the crux of enabling that ability. That’s when I started to toy with the idea of exploring artificial intelligence, at first as a hobby, and later, as events in my life occurred, as a next career step. Seeing what DeepMind did with their Deep Q-Learning Network, teaching it to play classic Atari video games was also inspiring!

I think, I’ve always been fascinated by the idea of making computrs think and learn like humans do , thats why I chose to study AI/do research in AI 😀
